I picked Cassity up from preschool today and on the way home she said:
"Mommy I don't want to talk about it-but I had to go to Ms Ruth Ann's office today for lying. It was hoooorrrrrible."
After my eyes bugged out of my head, I asked:
"What did you lie about?"
She said: "about a dog-and I dont want to talk about it."
When I got home, I emailed Cassity's teacher and Preschool Director, Ms. RuthAnn
The following is the response.
Enjoy.
"Mommy I don't want to talk about it-but I had to go to Ms Ruth Ann's office cause I lied--it was horrible."
Ms RuthAnn: She really made it harder on herself than I did. I simply talked with her about taking the toy, lying to Mrs. Debbie and then not coming over to talk with Mrs. Debbie when she called her over. She did keep telling me that she did "not want to be in my office and wanted to go back to class". I think being removed from class to talk to me was pretty traumatic and I would be surprised if she ever returns to the "blue chair" in my office again.
Leslie: I have tried to have her explain to me what happened and what she lied about-but I can't get much out of her...
MS. RuthAnn: Apparently she had a toy dog in her pocket that belong to the class. She told Mrs. Debbie that it was hers and then another student "corrected" her and told Mrs. Debbie that it belonged to the class. She did admit then that it was the class' toy but did NOT want to go over to talk to Mrs. Debbie about it. I took the approach that if every child in the Lions class took home a toy, then there would be no toys left in the Lions class.
Leslie: If you have ANY other issues with her-please let me know and we will work on it at home too!
Ms RuthAnn: Thanks for being such supportive parents and for working with us.
Cassity is a really sweet little girl and we talked a lot about making mistakes. I told her it happens to everyone, even me. She seemed very surprised that I could make mistakes, too. I just told her that God wants us to apologize and she did apologize to Mrs. Debbie who cuddled and loved on Cassity.
