1985
I was 5 years old and watching DAYS OF OUR LIVES at my Mamaw's house. "HOPE BRADY" was the prettiest girl I had ever seen.
I was 13 years old and at the time-I thought nobody was prettier than CINDY CRAWFORD! I remember desperately wanting a beauty mark on my upper lip like she had! I had her hair and practiced putting my makeup on JUST LIKE HER!

1997
I was 17 and NOBODY was prettier than JENNIFER ANNISTON! Her hair was the envy of every girl between the age 15-45!

2002
I was glued to the tv every TUESDAY night watching THE GILMORE GIRLS! These girls had it all...they were smart, funny, and could eat anything they wanted and not gain a pound!
2008
I just think Katherine Heigl is IT! She is just a pure beauty and on top of the world these days!
Isnt it funny how we tell ourselves what BEAUTY is? We look at magazines and watch movies and television just looking for the NEXT BIG STYLE! We wait for HOLLYWOOD to tell us what being beautiful is. We learn that being skinny is EVERYTHING! We know that wearing name brand is THE ONLY way-
As most of you know, I am a huge fan of celebrities in general. WHen I was just a little girl, my aunt would buy the "tabloids" as they are called now-and I would sit and look through each page just admiring all the beautiful people and their glamorous clothing and fantastic hair! I would practice putting my make up on and fixing my hair in the latest styles! I got pretty good at it-if I do say so myself! I even went as far as going to beauty school to become a PROFESSIONAL at what I loved best!
What I have learned as I have gotten older is that you can invest all the time and money you want on the outside-but if you don't take care of the inside....bueaty is just not realistic.
I never struggled with low self esteem as a teenager...
Low self esteem reared its ugly head once I started having babies. I no longer have a reason to dress up, or put make up on, or even shower for that matter. I have grown up putting so much into who I was on the outside appearance that now that I am in a place in life that it doesnt matter-I am lost.
As cliche as it is-I am learning that in this point in life I need to work from the inside out...I need to start fresh!I need to to reinvent my definition of what it means to be beautiful-not only for myself-but for my Cassity!
I want her to have goals and fulfill them! I want her to seek God's will for her life and strive for it each day! I want her to be a good friend and kind to others. I want her to try her best and enjoy her own life without feeling like she has to be like someone else! I want her to be confident in WHO SHE IS even if its not our society's ideal!
I also want all of these things for myself and know If I want Cassity to be all these things...it has to start with me!
Pretty is-as pretty does.
